Ireland’s energy regulator (CRU) decided in December 2025 to tier data centre connections by maximum import capacity. Below 1 MVA a site is exempt; from 1 to 10 MVA it must provide an autoproducer unit covering 100% of its MIC; and sites at or above 1 MVA must show a credible plan to meet at least 80% of annual demand from new Irish renewable generation within six years.
